At work, writing is power
This newsletter will help you think clearer so you can write clearer. Because what is writing but thinking through your fingers? It's the skill of getting clear for yourself so you can be doubly clear for others.

Twice per month we'll share a story, an exercise, and links.

What does it mean to take the long view?

If you're looking for copywriting hacks, this probably isn't the newsletter for you. Instead, you'll find it offers a philosophy on how to position yourself to achieve true writing greatness. Which is difficult. And slow.

Here's how we think about it: Taking the longview means learning to think beyond the present. It’s coming to love our limitations and growing enamored with the habits that ensure success not once, but repeatedly. It is being thrilled by a harsh critique, for you see its future benefit. It is asking, at each setback, what system led me here? And it is crafting everything you touch to endure.

Taking the longview means seeing everything for its long-term effects and treating it accordingly.

When we take the longview in writing, we realize that ideas matter much more than words, and for the greatest writing leverage, we train our minds.

Written by Chris, CEO and Fenwick co-founder

He's been writing for B2B for 10 years now, first at Marketo and since for clients including Google, Salesforce, and Shopify. That said, Longview is a whole-team effort and the ideas are so thoroughly recycled we're really now sure who originated what.

Everything he shares is something Fenwick has tried or observed firsthand, told as honestly as we can manage it. (Oh hi there, dear client. Fear not. Your secret is safe.)
